COSBOA TAPS INTO THE AUSTRALIAN CYBER SECURITY CENTRE (ACSC) CYBER INTELLIGENCE

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) leads the Australian Government’s efforts to improve cyber security. ACSC’s role is to help make Australia the safest place to connect online by monitoring cyber threats across the globe 24 hours a day, seven days a week so they can alert Australians early on what to do. In late December 2019 after successfully completing their vetting process, former COSBOA Chair and current COSBOA Cyber Security Ambassador, Paul Nielsen, received advice that his company, Avantia Corporate Services, had been approved as a Registered ACSC Partner. Approval as an ACSC Partner allows Cyber Security Partners to: • Access and share timely and often sensitive information through the Joint Cyber Security Center (JCSC) Program, such as cyber threat intelligence, and what businesses in various industries, and across different sectors, are doing in response to cyber threats. • Develop collaborative solutions to cyber security risks and issues affecting various industries. • To contribute to a common understanding of the cyber security environment and achieve optimal mitigation through the sharing of analysis of incidents, threats and risks • Access the latest threat intelligence alerts and advisories , and • Participation in a range of events, workshops, cyber security exercises, and presentations on cyber security. ACSC has a national footprint of Joint Cyber Security Centers where they collaborate with nearly 200 industry, government and academic partners on current cyber security issues. ACSC also works with law enforcement authorities to fight cybercrime and is part of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), a division of the Defense Department which has a long history of cyber security excellence. “Partnership with ACSC allows us to be at the forefront of cybersecurity defense for SME’s and to provide timely advice to the Members of COSBOA’s Associations to protect their businesses assets ensuring their continued viability as the threat matrix changes from day to day” said Paul. Paul publishes a weekly ‘international threat alert‘ written in “plain english” and COSBOA Members can register for a free subscription at www.avantiacybersecurity.com. Paul can be contacted at Avantia Corporate Services on 07 30109711 or directly on 0408824122 (info@avantiacorp.com.au) for a confidential discussion on cybersecurity options or issues.
