Nominations open for 2025 COSBOA National Small Business Champion Award

Updated: Jul 15

The Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) is now accepting nominations for the 2025 National Small Business Champion Award. This prestigious accolade recognises individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the success, sustainability, and wellbeing of small businesses across Australia.

The award celebrates those who champion innovation, demonstrate strong leadership, and advocate tirelessly for the small business sector. Nominees can include inspiring small business owners and operators, individuals or organisations working with or on behalf of small businesses, those making a national impact (including in partnership with COSBOA), respected leaders within their field or community, and active contributors to their industry or profession.

Nominations are open until Friday, 25 July 2025. Self-nominations are welcome.

The winner will be formally recognised at the COSBOA National Small Business Summit Gala Dinner in Melbourne on 19 August 2025.

Last year's award was presented to Gary Strachan, the Director behind the Deadly Hair Dude. Gary was honoured for his dedication to addressing the lack of hairdressing services and skills in remote parts of the Northern Territory. Through his not-for-profit initiative, he has provided young Indigenous people with hairdressing training and certification, creating local employment and addressing broader social issues.

Why nominate?

  • Celebrate leadership and impact in the small business sector

  • Raise awareness of small business success

  • Honour those who go above and beyond for our small business community

Let's recognise and celebrate the champions making a difference in the small business community.
