Future Female Entrepreneurs Program

In 2019 COSBOA and its delivery partner, 89 Degrees East, secured funding from the Office for Women for the Future Female Entrepreneurs Program. The program was officially launched on 4 December 2019 by the Federal Treasurer and ran throughout 2020. It was recently extended until 2023 with funding from the Federal Government’s Women’s Leadership and Development Grant. The program also expanded in 2021 to include an Accelerator for Enterprising Women aimed at 18-24-year-olds.
The program is aimed at equipping young women aged 10 to 24 with skills in entrepreneurship, design thinking, and technology. It’s a program created for girls by girls.
The Academy for Enterprising Girls includes a digital e-learning platform, a program of workshops held across regional and metro areas around Australia, a hub of digital resources (including a YouTube channel), and education resources for teachers.
The Accelerator for Enterprising Women includes a national kickstarter challenge and series of national summit events, the first of which was held in March 2021 at the University of Technology Sydney. It will also include incubator workshops, a digital launchpad platform and an inspiring content series.
Academy for Enterprising Girls - E-learning Platform
The online academy includes e-learning modules as well as videos from enterprising girls and successful business women. Enrolment is FREE
It offers an exciting and fun course to learn about entrepreneurship, design thinking, and how to start up your own business. Participants will learn new skills, see a bunch of success stories, gain the confidence and ability to bring their own ideas to life, and much much more.
Girls and young women have the opportunity to work through the modules and videos at their own pace. There are also pages for educators and parents.
Workshops and National Summits
In 2020, 126 Enterprising Girls workshops were delivered to over 4,000 girls in primary and secondary schools around Australia. Workshops will continue in 2021. They can be offered in person or online and are of no cost to the participating schools. Dates for workshops are negotiated with individual schools, and schools interested in hosting a workshop can register their interest on the Academy's website.
The Accelerator for Enterprising Women will be hosting a series of free national summit events in 2021 where 18-24-year-olds can hear from inspiring guest speakers and brainstorm their ideas in breakout sessions. It will also be hosting a series of incubator workshops where young women can develop their business ideas and get them ready to submit to the National kickstarter challenge.
