About the Project

In 2019, COSBOA and its delivery partner, the communications agency 89 Degrees East, secured funding from the Office for Women for the Future Female Entrepreneurs Program. The program was officially launched on 4 December 2019 by the Federal Treasurer and will run throughout 2020.

The program is aimed at encouraging girls and young women aged 10 to 18 to participate and develop skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and entrepreneurship. This is a program created for girls by girls.

It includes a digital platform – The Academy for Enterprising Girls – a YouTube Channel, and a series of workshops that will be held across regional and metro areas of Australia during 2020.

Digital Platform

The online academy is now open and includes e-learning modules and videos from enterprising girls and successful business women. Enrolment is free.

It offers an exciting and fun course to learn about entrepreneurship, design thinking, and how to start up your own business. Participants will learn new skills, see a bunch of success stories, gain the confidence and ability to bring their own ideas to life, and much much more.

Girls and young women have the opportunity to work through the modules and videos at their own pace. There are also pages for educators and parents.

Workshops

In addition to the online Academy, over 100 workshops will be delivered at primary and secondary schools around Australia.

Dates for workshops are negotiated with individual schools. As dates are confirmed, these will be added to COSBOA's events page. Girls, educators and parents should also check with their school principal whether a workshop will be held at their school.
