Small Business Ministry in the Treasury portfolio – who would have thought
COSBOA congratulates the Leader of the Opposition, sildenafil Tony Abbott, prescription who in his budget reply last week announced that under a Coalition government that the small business ministry will be in the Treasury portfolio.
Peter Strong, buy Executive Director of COSBOA stated “We have always asked for the federal small business minister to be in Cabinet but it never crossed our minds to ask for the small business ministry to be in the Treasury portfolio – if we had we probably would have been marched off to a Canberra Gulag for re-education by public service mandarins. Now, the potential placing of our needs in Treasury puts us at the heart of economic policy, where we should be.”
COSBOA knows that small business people are tired of rhetoric about the importance of small business people, rhetoric that has been rarely matched by outcomes. The last twelve months has seen some positive changes and the announcement by Mr Abbott sends a further clear message that not only are we being listened to but action will take place.
Mr Strong added “The comments from shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey in a recent interview with Alan Kohler from Business Spectator also highlights a new focus on small business people above the needs of big business. Given that we are in a time of constant change and small business people are able to quickly adapt to change, this augers well for the future of change management in our economy.”
Compliance demands and other issues important to the small business community will be discussed at the National Small Business Summit in Brisbane in July 2013.
