Below is a short comment we received from our current small business champion, Kathryn Bordonaro who is a board member on one of our member organisations, CAFBA, and runs her own small business in Victoria, East State Credit Finance Brokers. See information on why Kathryn received the award.
Also attached is a photo of some of the produce from small businesses in the area that Kathryn’s company services – nice.
Dear Peter and the Board of COSBOA – I thought I would provide you with a quick update on how your small business champion (me) is progressing in the role.
As the COSBOA 2014 National Small Business Champion I have been invited to many schools late last year to speak to Year 12 students in the lead up to their exams and the next exciting chapters of their lives. Many students are interested in one day owning and running their own businesses – it has been a pleasure to engage with passionate young people as they finish their secondary schooling and leap into the wider world.
I have shared a photo of myself and some of the students I met as well as a comment below from one of the school newsletters so you can see what your “Champion” has been up to of late.
“The lessons our girls took away were that it is okay to be passionate in whatever they do, to find a purpose in life and make a difference in everything we do. Kathryn extolled the importance of putting education, opportunity, chances and hard work to good use.”
I will continue to promote small business as a great life and career outcome and look forward to your next small business summit. Well done with COSBOA and keep up the good fight.
