Recently I was interviewed by The Guardian about the Effects Test and I made the normal comments and also drew attention to the idea of a mail-out to marginal seats before the next election, something that we also did in the election of 2010. In the body of the article my comments were reported well but in the initial headline and the first paragraph the article gave the very strong impression that we should be campaigning against the coalition. See the article with a better headline HERE.
We would neveer campaign for or against any party – policies are everything and so are the people that support policy. Bruce Billson is a person who is policy rich when it comes to small business and we support him.
(If you want to see misleading than listen to what the big end of town are saying about the effects test. Here is my article on that subject.)
It is worth noting that in all the time I have dealt with the media this is the first time a problem like this occurred – the media nearly always respect people that respect them, hopefully this won’t happen again.
Thanks and regards
